JOB TITLE: Continuous Improvement Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting in continuous improvement activities using lean manufacturing tools, including 5S, TPM, standardized work, time studies, through-put improvements, and waste elimination. CI Techs are expected to summarize and generate reports, coach/train Operations Leads and assist Supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Able to learn problem solving

    • Line balance chart (Yamazumi)
    • Standardized Work Combination Charts
    • Value Stream Mapping


  • Willing and capable of summarizing and generating weekly and monthly reports
  • Capable of taking time studies and breaking down jobs
  • Capable of training to standardized work
  • Audit standardized work, 5S, LPAs, quality check sheets, etc.
  • Participate in workshops (C/O, 5S, through put, TPM)
  • Create basic 2D CAD drawings
  • Coach Operations Leads and Training Buddies (Mentors) and assist Production Supervisors
  • Coaches team members on adherence to safety procedures, including correct use of PPE, daily safety checks and workplace inspections.
  • Coach team members to adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Provides timely and effective feedback to help team members to strengthen specific skills needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem.
  • Escalates issues and/or successes of the cell to the Production Supervisors or manager as necessary.
  • Assist in resolving problems during the launch period of new products or engineering changes & improve the production process.
  • Help develop/implement the plants 5S improvement plan.
  • Assists in implementing the plant continuous improvement plan.
  • Collect data as needed for improvements, OFI (Opportunity for Improvement), Savings projects (WAVE), etc.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:



  • High school equivalent or higher education.



EXPERIENCE:



  • Work experience in the automotive parts industry preferred.



REQUIREMENTS:



  • Some understanding of lean manufacturing, waste elimination, problem-solving & 5S principles.
  • Must be able to use Email and Excel programs, Microsoft Word & PowerPoint knowledge are a plus
  • Must be able to learn new programs and manipulate data using filtering, sorting, Pivot Tables, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic 2D CAD functions or the ability to learn 2D CAD
  • Self-driven to complete tasks on time at a high pace
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated professional and ethical leadership skills
  • Able to read, write, and perform basic math skills
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Must have the ability to carry out instructions, provided in written, oral or diagram forms.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product and process specifications.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work requirements
