Lead UX Designer

Job Description

In this role you will be accountable of crafting delightful end-to-end customer experiences across the full range of design practices, from up-front research, insights, then to ideation, prototyping, and testing, and on to delivery of final designs. ou'll work closely with our cross-functional product teams implementing effective design thinking methods and advocating a human centered mindset to help collectively achieve product and business outcomes.

Additionally, you will be a strategic thought-partner and a catalyst for positive change by reframing problems through a human-centered lens helping influence product and business strategy at the executive leadership level. A Day in the life:

  • Design and re-design product experiences across various product journeys.

  • As a skilled facilitator, lead workshops and processes that extract valuable insights, result in meaningful outcomes, and inspire engagement.

  • Create strategic design deliverables such as strategy decks, vision of future experiences, and evangelize cross-product blueprints across teams.

  • Craft personas, journey maps, story maps and service blueprints to help visualize and communicate end-to-end experiences.

  • Generate novel ideas through lateral thinking and rigorously evaluate designs for feasibility and impact.

  • Develop prototypes at varying levels of detail and test them with real users. Experiment and iterate based on learnings from user testing.

  • Advocate for Accessibility Guidelines and Inclusive Design practices.

  • Understand customers' needs, mindsets, and behaviors through archetypes and "jobs to be done." Align these models with quantitative data to deliver tangible business value.

  • Advocate for the users' perspective when collaborating with Product Managers and Engineers to plan roadmaps, gather requirements, and structure the work.

  • Diagram the interactivity of the product ecosystem, including multi-channel service and feature interactions, with user flows and wireframes.

  • Help deliver detailed designs, built upon Design System and contribute to the Design System as needed.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Degree in relevant design discipline (e.g., Interaction Design, HCI, User Experience Design), certification from credible bootcamp or similar accelerated learning program, or equivalent work experience.

  • 8+ years of experience as a design lead within cross functional product organization.

  • A strong track record of shipping high quality consumer products.

  • Design thinking experience - including planning and group facilitation of journey maps, service maps etc.

  • Experience participating in user research through interviews, observations and analyzing results.

  • Proficiency with prototyping and remote collaboration tools (Figma, Miro, Mural etc.).

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and able to conceive ideas at an early stage of development.

  • Experience collaborating within design teams (with other designers, ux researchers, and content designers) and cross-functionally with product managers and engineers.

  • Understands how design work connects with broader business value.

  • Experience with agile implementation methodologies and ceremonies.

  • MUST share portfolio with examples such as case studies, whitepapers, write-ups, and/or presentation decks. Be able to clearly describe involvement in these projects.

  • Strong understanding of design principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate design thinking into the product development process.

  • Demonstrate the ability to challenge prevailing paradigms and lead stakeholders toward innovative solutions.

  • Advanced skills in Interaction Design as well as either Visual/UI Design or Information Architecture.

  • Passion for elevating design craft.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to flex communication style with technical and non-technical users.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong collaborative skills with an ability to effectively communicate with both technical teams and non-technical business users/leaders.

  • Strong and focused leader, team player and consensus builder.

  • Experience working through ambiguity, challenging the status quo, and making tough and well-reasoned decisions.

  • Hungry to learn and teach the product innovation craft, including the methodologies, mindset, and tools needed to deliver customer value in innovative and delightful ways.

  • Highly compassionate for customers and team members.
